Come participate in Keep St. Pete Lit's second literary salon of the 2017-2018 season, a place for the community to engage with authors and explore new ideas.

"Poetry is a condensing thing in my work---it puts unlikenesses very close together…” Engage in a collaborative practice of knowing/unknowing with Terri Witek accompanied by the improvisational viola voice played by Samuel Adan Martinez. "...If I could lie them down more tightly still I would.”

Terri Witek is the author of five books of poems, most recently Body Switch--her work has been included in many other journals and anthologies. Her poetry often traces the breakages between words and images: she has collaborated with Brazilian visual artist Cyriaco Lopes (cyriacolopes.com) since 2005. Their works together include gallery shows, video, performance and site-specific projects-- featured internationally in New York, Seoul, Miami, Lisbon, and Rio de Janeiro. Collaborations with digital artist Matt Roberts (mattroberts.com) use augmented reality technology for smart phones to poetically map cities and have been featured in Matanza (Colombia), Lisbon, Glasgow, Vancouver, and Miami. With Lopes she team-teaches Poetry in the Expanded Field in Stetson University’s low-residency MFA of the Americas, and also Stetson’s undergraduate creative writing program. www.terriwitek.com

Samuel Adan Martinez, a St. Petersburg native, has always been an active member of the community. Adan is a full-time student, member of the Tampa Bay Symphony, and uses music to spread positivity to others. He has performed all over the Tampa Bay Area in productions, award ceremonies, and busks on the streets of downtown St. Pete.

Thank you to our partner ArtsXchange St. Pete and salon curator Sabrina Dalla Valle.

$5.00 at the door.
