CLASS DESCRIPTION
Join Denise Cormier Mahoney as she introduces the world of Provincetown White Line Printmaking. Originating in 1915 when a group of accomplished women artists with expertise in Japanese Woodcut Printmaking sought to simplify the process, this technique has now become a cherished American tradition. Using a soft wood block, artists create V-lines that will appear as white lines in the final artwork. Precision is paramount as the paper is securely attached to the wood plate, ensuring perfect alignment. The application of watercolors onto the wood and careful burnishing with a silver spoon in small sections brings the artwork to life. Discover the first uniquely American printmaking technique in this class, a testament to innovation and art history. Please note that this is a DEMO class.
