About ArtsXchange The ArtsXchange project was created because as the popularity of the Warehouse Arts District (WADA) increased, property values increased making it difficult for artists to obtain reasonably priced studio and gallery space.  In the summer of 2014, WADA began a capital fund raising effort with the goal of purchasing 50,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space. Private and public fundraisers were held which raised $350,000 for the down payment including a $75,000 donation from the City of St. Petersburg.  In December 2014, WADA was able to purchase a compound of 6 warehouse buildings that will be renovated into affordable working studios, galleries, classrooms, a coffee shop and educational microbrewery and restaurant.

More than 300 artists (10% from outside Florida) have signed up in advance for working space in the ArtsXchange facility.  St. Petersburg is developing a national reputation as not only an arts destination, but also a welcoming community for new artists to locate and open up shop.

Danielle Dautel – Artist Statement They say you don’t choose your passion, your passion chooses you. I have been an artist in one form or another my entire life. From writer to painter, photographer to dancer. I chose, however, about five years ago to channel my soul into photography. The connections I have made with others, the experiences and adventures, they are like no other art I have discovered and has been host to the most beautiful and inspiring moments of my life.

Originally I believed that photographers could only capture a story that was already fabricated. We were the medium in which a story was told but not how it was generated. My perception drastically changed with one single idea; I didn’t have to explain to my audience what happened, I could tell them a story of what could happen. Because of this very idea I am not just a photographer, I am a story-teller.

I bring to you my heart, my soul, my adventurous spirit, in the hopes that you will see this world with the impossible beauty that I do.
