“Stone is inherently a beautiful medium and my intention as a sculptor is to listen to the stone and to coax this natural beauty into a moving expression of sensual form.
I believe sculpture needs be touched to be fully appreciated. That’s why movement in the piece is so important to me. I seek a harmony and fluidity that invite the viewer to connect with something beyond the subject matter and to find their own physical and emotional experience. I find inspiration in everything from the classical forms of Ancient Greece and other early cultures, to the abstract expressionists of modern times; as well as exploring the symbolic role that form-as-art plays in understanding the mystical and the natural world. My passion and love for beauty is poured in to each of my one of a kind works of art. As there are no two stones that are the same, none of them can be duplicated to exactness.”

Christina Bertsos is an award winning sculptor who lives in Dunedin, FL. Her journey as an artist began with a love for drawing since the age of five. She studied life drawing at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago before being accepted into an honors program at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and graduating with a degree in Fashion Design. She also received her Bachelors degree with honors from Loyola University in Chicago. Since 2011 she has focused her artistic study and expression on stone sculpture. She is self taught but has learned much about the technical aspects of working with tools and stone from other generous and loving sculptors.
