OCTOBER ARTWALK We are bringing International artist, Ulla Wobst, to the ArtsXchange with the exhibit “Essentials of Human Existence - The Art of Ulla Wobst”. Her paintings are rich wonderlands with fantastic imagery and a poetic soul. The surrealism and metaphysical art evoke a mystical experience that seems to ask the questions where do we come from and why are we here. Her poetic interpretation explores what lies beneath the superficial facades of contemporary life. “Ulla Wobst is an artist who cannot be categorized into one delimited artistic movement. By definition, Wobst‘s paintings go beyond the boundaries of established art currents and styles: her creations are universal symbols, paradigms of human feelings, enriched by a magical realism that culminates in an evocative expressionism,” Christopher Rosewood, Art Historian and Art Critic. “I remember to have painted since I was about three years old and was fascinated by the fairy tales of the Grimm Brothers that had been told and -a bit later- read out to me. To remain longer in these magical realms I started to draw and paint what I had heard. This has become my main impetus for painting: to live in both worlds, in so-called reality and of surreality/depths-of-the-psyche and dreams, says Wobst.
