RISE IS A MONUMENT SYMBOLIZING

STRENGTH AND REBIRTH

Framing an iconic piece of steel from the World Trade Center is a 25’ tall Phoenix Wing symbolizing rebirth. It sits atop a pile of white limestone, reminiscent of the crumbled concrete that littered ground zero in the aftermath of the attack.

All Americans are bound together by the shared memory of these events regardless of race or belief. Anchoring the Rise Monument is an arched wall representing the rising sun of a new day. This wall joins the local community, creative community, and the first responders’ community through their participation in its adornment with their thoughts and dreams etched by flame upon its surface.

Don't miss this moving dedication which includes:

  • St Petersburg Poet Laureate Helen Wallace
  • Installation of the last piece of the Trade Center Towers to be removed from Ground Zero
  • Recognition of first American casualties in Afghanistan
  • Remember the lives lost with trees donated from the Texas farm of President George W. Bush
  • A community tile project to celebrate our veterans and first responders everywhere
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Tully-Levine Gallery on the ArtsXchange Campus.
