Screen printing is a quick, fun, intuitive way of creating an image on a fabric. With guidance from Artist Saumitra Chandratreya, you will arrive at these images through analogue, low tech methods of screen printing. Through demonstrations and active class participation, you will explore methods with stencils, direct dyes, drawing fluid and mono printing. 

In-person. Weekly Class on Sundays, 1:00 - 5:00pm, for three weeks. Ages 16+

Must be an Adult (18+) to register on behalf of a Minor (16 - 17).

Members: $181
($161 course fee + $20 supply fee)

About the Artist

Saumitra Chandratreya is a Fiber-Installation artist who lives in Chicago, IL and Largo, FL. He was born in Mumbai and he considers Bangalore, India as his other home. He graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2017 with a Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment. He has a BFA in Textile Design from the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore, India.

Chandratreya was awarded one of the Emerging Artist Grants from Creative Pinellas in 2018. He was one of the emerging artists at the 2019 Gasparilla Festival of Arts in Tampa, FL. He was one of the Finalists who exhibited at the Union League Club of Chicago for Luminarts Cultural Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship Show. He was one of the artists selected to be a part of the Qinfolk Festival in 2019. Chandratreya was awarded the Shapiro Graduate research fellowship at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was nominated by his department for the James Nelson Raymond Fellowship while studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Chandratreya teaches at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, FL.
