St. Petersburg, FL – The Warehouse Arts District Association, in collaboration with the EMIT, Arts Axis, and WUSF Jazz are excited to announce the "Helios Jazz Orchestra feat. Fred Johnson" concert and roundtable discussion on December 1st.

In South St. Pete, numerous communities grapple with the challenge of "food deserts", areas where access to fresh and nutritious food is limited or too expensive. To bring continued awareness to this pressing issue, WADA is hosting a 2-part event that is part of the "Jazz and Politics: Harmony & Discourse" concert series.

The roundtable discussion will be featuring influential community leaders and advocates for addressing food insecurity in South St. Pete and beyond. Participants include Moderator: Shaina Bent, COO at the Free Clinic, Rev. Louis M. Murphy, Sr. Senior Pastor, Dr. Yvonne Williams, Associate Provost, SPC, Caitlyn Peacock, ED of Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger, Lisa Pineda, President- Sustainable Urban Agriculture Coalition, and Wendy Wesley, Nutritionist & Dietitian and Erica HardisonFlorida Food Policy Council Board Member, Board President for One Community Grocery Co-op.

Following the discussion, a concert will showcase a talented ensemble of musicians from Helios Jazz Orchestra featuring local jazz singer Fred Johnson. Currently serving as a community engagement specialist and artist-in-residence at the Straz, his creative projects continue to inspire.

The 2-part event will take place at Tully Levine Gallery and the ArtsXchange Outdoor Theater, located at 515 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg, on Friday, December 1st, from 6:00 PM to 9 PM.

Ticket pricing options include General Admission tickets at $15 and discounted tickets for WADA members at $10. We recommend that you register from a laptop or desktop. 

Walk-up tickets are $20. 

The event schedule is as follows:

6:00-7:00 PM at Tully Levine Gallery: Roundtable discussion on food insecurity and South St. Pete “food deserts” featuring community leaders.

7:00-9 PM: Concert by Helios Jazz Orchestra featuring vocalist Fred Johnson.
