Mastering Media Communications and

the Art of the Press Release

A writing workshop with Bill DeYoung

Art, of course, is a business, and getting your message out should be paramount for your business. And you may be surprised to learn there’s an art to communicating with newspapers, magazines, podcasts, social media and other outlets.

What do media people look for in a press release? What do they like to see, and what should you avoid when you’re putting your release together? How do I make certain mine stands out alongside all the others?

How do I write the perfect press release?

St. Pete CatalystSenior Writer and Editor Bill DeYoung has been a working arts journalist for over 40 years. In this exclusive writing workshop, he’ll cover the ins, outs, do’s and don’ts of the press release, its follow-ups and follow-throughs, and the things journalists look for (and ignore) when they’re deciding what to print, report on or broadcast.

Should I write a lot? Should I write a little? Should I let my Artist Statement speak for itself? Should I attach a dozen images? Should I assume that since my last show was popular, the media will now seek me out?

All these questions – and many more – will be answered with this hands-on, real-world writing experience.
